ECOWAS WOCEWA MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS 2024/2025: FULLY FUNDED

Is an exceptional fully-funded opportunity designed to promote gender equality in the energy sector within West Africa. Funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, the scholarship is part of the Women and Clean Energy in West Africa initiative led by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE). This program aims to increase the participation of women in the private energy sector both as consumers and suppliers of clean energy.

WOCEWA provides substantial benefits to its scholars, including coverage for tuition fees and health insurance, a laptop, and a monthly stipend during a six-month internship at ECREEE or other ECOWAS energy institutions. Specifically, the scholarship offers up to $3,200 per year for a maximum of two years, with tuition fees and health insurance covering up to $2,500 annually. Additionally, scholars receive a laptop worth up to $700 and a stipend of $800 per month during their internship, which also includes coverage for travel and insurance expenses.

To be eligible, applicants must be female citizens of an ECOWAS member state, registered for the first year of a master’s degree at a recognized West African institution, and have a background in STEM with a focus on energy. Candidates must also be under 32 years old by the end of 2024 and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5. Applications require submission of a detailed CV, certified copies of academic transcripts and degrees, proof of registration and admission to a master’s program, and a letter of motivation.
